Knowledge and Adoption Level of Biocontrol Practices in Cotton

Abstract :

The State Department of Agriculture and Regional Agricultural Universities in Maharashtra have started a number of biocontrol and biopesticides producing centres to cope up with the ‘Biological desert’ resulted due to misuse and abuse of pesticides. The study was conducted with aim of identifying the knowledge and adoption level of the cotton growers regarding biocontrol agents and biopesticides. One hundred twenty cotton growers from 5 talukas in Parbhani and Hingoli districts were selected randomly. Responses regarding recommended biocontrol practices of cotton by Marathwada Agricultural University, Parbhani were collected by interviewing them personally. The study revealed that knowledge and adoption level of the cotton growers regarding biocontrol practices was very low except NSKE
